7 Months

Samuel continued to grow and explore his world this month. His main mode of transportation was rolling. He made efforts at slithering, but didn't get too far. He can sit pretty well and enjoyed playing that way. He napped 2.5 times a day and ate 2 solids meals a day. He added barley, apples, mangoes, peaches (ok the ones i made were a bit tart), pears, prunes, green beans, and peas to his diet. He cut his first tooth on 8/11 and the 2nd one on 8/21. He is a pretty good teether so far. Mainly he gets a bad face rash and is a little fussier and much more "chompy."  He enjoyed playing with Grandma Van Dolson during her visit! He also experienced his first earthquake :)

This month Samuel weighed in at 15lb 6.9oz and 25.25in at his 4 month (4.5month) appointment. He is in around the 50% for height, weight and head circumference. He was covered with a bad rash which the doctor said was a combination of eczema and yeast. We are treating it with lots of eucerin and lotrimin cream along with a head & shoulders scrub, which has pretty much done the trick. His umbilical hernia continues to improve. He has been practicing rolling a little, but doesn't seem to enjoy it too much yet. He found his toes and continued to develop his sense of humor. He naps usually about 3 times a day and eats 5 times a day. We'll be starting him on rice cereal this week to test his readiness for solids.

We took him on his first long road trip to the beach and had a really nice time. Vacationing with a 5month old is a big change, but we had a lot of fun with him and got to go to bed early! I reached my pre-pregnancy weight (hurray!) and immediately gained back a few pounds. Ah well!
