37 weeks

At my 36 week doctor's visit last Wednesday, I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced and our little boy was head down at -2 station. The doctor also measured my fundal height to be 32cm, which should have been closer to 36cm. Because of the small measurement, we had an ultrasound the next day, Thursday, to make sure our little guy was growing ok. The u/s showed that his head and length were measuring normal, but his abdomen circumference was measuring small. His weight was estimated at 5lb 5oz (with 10% error). Everything has developed properly, and the amniotic fluid level was good. The doctor then ordered a non-stress test (NST) which was basically just 30 minutes of monitoring the baby's heart rate and movement. The doctor then told us that our little guy looks like he is doing fine, and she said that he is probably just a small baby. There doesn't seem to be any sign of fetal growth restriction, but we will be seeing the doctor twice a week now to keep an eye on him. I will go in for the NST twice a week, and one of the appointments will also include my typical prenatal appt where they will check my cervix.

This morning I went in for my second NST and the little guy was doing fine. My next appointment will be on Thursday. I have now gained 38lbs! Yikes! I am retaining a lot of fluid lately, and my pubic symphasis/pelvic pain has gotten much worse. I am able to walk around though still, so I am doing okay. We are steadily checking things off our to-do list. Brandon did a lot of stuff around the house yesterday (hung blinds, put up door hooks, fixed things) and I worked on packing the hospital bag and finishing washing all our little guys clothes and blankets that he will be using in the first few months. We also did some furniture rearranging, so I guess we are both really nesting now!

Also, I just noticed that my baby timeline at the top of the blog is now on the very last image! Wow!

  1. Jacki, you look great! Glad to hear Mini-Watt is alright. Just a few more weeks to go...

Had a fun time seeing you all this Christmas as a family of "only two" for the last time :) (no offense to Sophie and Oliver!)

  2. I think the little guy just wants to help mom out by being skinny where it counts so that its easier for him to join us outside :)

When are you coming to see your favorite nephew?

  3. I bet your Mom wants to call you twice a day. Can't blame her. Monitoring Mother and Baby from 4000 miles away is a real heart chore. Happy to know that all is well inside the incubator. Holding you in prayer Jacki and Brandon and little Watt. So excited. Thank you for blogging. God bless you.

  4. Yes ! I'm so excited! It's hard to take anything else in life seriously right now. I bought my tickets tonight despite my slo-mo internet and I was able to avoid the train complications. Let's hope the little fellow cooperates and is no more than 1 day late ! Jacki, you're looking so very cute !

  5. Yes, you look Super cute! I agree with Brandon, he's just making it easier for you. He'll probably be a hungry bear when he gets out! Are the baths for the pelvic pain? I'm sure that pelvis is expanding with the relaxin that's in your body now. Pretty amazing what the body can accommodate! You're almost there! -Lisa
